Welcome to Mrs. La Fuente's Page

As an educator we do more than simply teach. We are constantly evolving as teachers, learners, and as humans. I firmly believe that if I am not learning alongside my students I am failing myself, as well as my students. I have a student-centered philosophy on education. Students should feel encouraged to ask questions, and explore their own education using the form of learning that works best for them. I believe that students should be active learners in their learning community, and have a voice as to how they learn. I will strive daily to meet my students on their educational level and build upon what they already know in order to get them to the next level of success. I believe every level of success should be valued and is important. I want my students to realize that as long as they apply themselves, they can reach any level of success.

"If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn."

  • I’m beyond excited to be teaching 4th grade ELA/ Social Studies this year! I personally enjoy reading for pleasure, and I hope to pass that same passion for reading onto my students ❤️ This is going to be a great school year!

  • This is my 9th year teaching at Deepwater Elementary. I myself, am also a former Deepwater cougar! I love this community, and the students I have the privilege of working with on a daily basis.

  • I'm a first generation college graduate. I attended Alvin Community College, The University of Houston- Clear Lake, and received my Master's degree in Educational Technology through Lamar University.

  • I spend my Monday afternoons with one of the coolest groups of kids at our campus. Our DWE chess club! Our chess club participates in several tournaments throughout the year.
