Hello! My name is Brittany Rivera! I am so excited to be joining the Deepwater Elementary faculty as a Special Education teacher. I graduated in 2011 with a B.S. in Professional Writing from the University of Houston-Downtown and was a member of the English Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta. In 2016 I graduated from the University of North Texas with a M.S. in Library Science and an Academic Certificate in Youth Librarianship. I have worked as an inclusion paraprofessional in La Porte ISD and as a classroom teacher in Spring Branch ISD. I am looking forward to continuing my career in the classroom at Deepwater Elementary!
My husband and I have two children; Sarah who is 6 and Luke who is 4. When we are not at work or soccer practice, we are typically playing board games or enjoying family movie nights. I am a book nerd, a coffee fanatic, my favorite color is red, and my lucky number is 21!
I believe that each student has the potential to succeed and that their purpose is as unique as they are. I believe that learning is not one size fits most, but it is adaptive to each students' unique learning style, needs, and interests.
If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.
The best teachers are those who show you where to look, but don't tell you what to see.
