Hello! My name is Jessica Riggan and I am so excited to be joining the faculty and staff at Deepwater Elementary as a Special Education teacher! I grew up in Deer Park and graduated from DPHS in 2003. My family and I have lived in west Texas for the past 9 years and I am SO excited to be back HOME! My husband will be teaching and coaching down the street at Deepwater Junior High this year, and we have three children. We have two boys; Hudson who is 8 and Kinsler who is 5, as well as our sweet baby girl Paisley, who is 3.
I went to college at Abilene Christian University where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 2008. My very first year of teaching, I received the "Rookie Teacher of the Year" award for LaPorte ISD. 3 years ago, I received my Special Education certification for EC-12th grade. I taught Kindergarten for 8 years, First Grade for 1 year, and spent last year as an ARD Facilitator for an Education Cooperative in Abilene, Texas. This marks the beginning of my 11th year in education!
I believe that ALL children are capable of learning at high levels and I am really looking forward to seeing all of the amazing things our students at DWE will be doing this year! It is going to be one fantastic school year! Go Cougars!
